Beer Festivals at the Hope & Anchor

We are delighted to announce our calendar of Beerfests for 2016 at both the Hope & Anchor and sister pub the Volunteer Tavern near Cabot Circus.

Get your sunglasses on standby, don your finest beer drinking hat and boogie on down to our fantastic, Beerfest Reincarnated on 31st March to 3rd April 2016 in our sunny beer garden.

As usual, we will be showcasing some of the very best microbreweries in the UK. We are looking forward to getting a few pints in of these fantastic and progressive brewers nectars and accompanying it with some fine pub food.

Not only are we cooking up good food and pouring some fine pints, we will also be getting our dancing shoes on and getting our groove down to some live music and funk DJs.

Now I don’t know about you but if that isn’t a good way to spend a weekend, I don’t know what is. Especially as the sun will be shining (we live in Hope) and our secluded garden is looking fabulous!

Christmas is coming…sorry…but we have a great menu!

We know it’s not Christmas yet, and the leaves haven’t quite fallen off the trees, but you really do need to think about booking your Christmas party sooner rather than later these days as we wouldn’t want to disappoint.

Talking of not wanting to disappoint, check out the awesome Christmas Menu our chef has come up with.

Who can resist smoked salmon and crab timbale, maple roasted turkey, pigs in blankets, garlic roasted pheasant, slow cooked lamb shank, vegetable filo parcels, oven baked pollock with champagne velouté, chocolate & chestnut torte….we could get so carried away… but whatever your foodie cravings, we hope you find that our menu caters for your needs. If it doesn’t, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to cater for you, particularly for those with specific dietary requirements.

If you don’t want to eat from the Christmas menu towards the Christmas period (really?), then, of course, we have our usual pub menus and specials on the board daily as well as the changing selections of craft and real ales and fine wines.

Here at the Hope, we aim to give you food that you will remember (for all the right reasons) and a great time with us so if you have an event in mind, please do contact us with a date and we will do our best to make it a good one. You can either call 0117 929 2987 or email [email protected].

Looking for a great beer garden in Bristol?

IMG_1202-1We were delighted to find ourselves in the list of Top Ten best beer gardens in Bristol recently! Craft beer, fine wine and good food in a sunny garden - is there a better way to spend an afternoon now that summer has come?

Here at the Hope & Anchor - conveniently located on the slopes of Brandon Hill near the Clifton Triangle - we are proud to have a large, secluded garden for those lazy, sunny afternoons or if you are passing and fancy a quick pint in the sun (when it is out - obviously!).

Events

If you are looking for a lovely, secluded garden for your next event - look no further!

We love hosting events and will try our best to cater for your every need. We are used to running events either inside or outside, again, depending on the weather.

Look out for our beer festivals and other events here at the Hope but also at our sister pub, the Volunteer Tavern. Their next beer festival starts this week - 9th July.

We hope to see you soon!

May events at the Hope include Indonesian Tapas and 1985 party for charity

We are excited to announce our events coming up in May here at the Hope Bristol:

Indonesian Tapas Week - 18 May to 23 May

Angela and I first crossed paths a few months ago and the main thing that stayed in my memory was her exuberance.

She came to the Hope for a couple of drinks and we got talking. She mentioned she had been a guest chef at a couple of other Bristol venues. Always interested in trying new ideas I asked her if she would like to do a week at mine.

A bit of planning later we had conjured up a time for it and she told me it would be Indonesian tapas! I’ve never tried anything like that before and am really excited about seeing what she’ll produce :). Check out the menu below for some idea of what is to come.

It starts Monday 18th May and runs to the Saturday. Reservations are advised.

INDONESIAN TAPAS WEEK MENU:

  • Thai prawn crackers - £2
  • Wontons (pork and prawn) x6 - £5

  • Stuffed roast pork Indonesian style - £7
  • Pad Thai noodles with vegetables - £6
  • Pad Thai noodles with prawns - £8
  • Nasi goreng (spicy fried rice) - £5

  • Trio medley to share - £8

Party like it’s 1985 - 21 May - from 8.00pm

The same week as our guest chef is coming in we’re also happy to host a 1985 night! It’s a charity event in aid of Alzheimers Society where guests will be thrown back to the mid-80s.

Bring on the hair, shoulder pads and dance moves! Party like it’s 1985!

If you are planning to come to this and are a group, please contact us with the number of people in advance and by Monday 18th May.

Planning your own event?

One of the great aspects of being independent is our absolute flexibility. Anyone can come to us with a request for an event and, if physically possible, we will do everything to make it happen. From Pirate themed birthdays and 1980’s parties to 7-course fine dining night or cheese and ale pairing.

The most important thing to remember is that this is a community pub which means its ours together and we love bringing people together to have a good time.

More soon!
